This bear that has come to be known as Digger or Patches was given the original 469’s ID, this “imposter” bear cannot be the original 469.

Digger/Patches is an infrequent visitor to the falls, usually keeping to the lower river.

He has a history of cannibalizing other bears at least twice - on the first day of the cams going live in 2012, Digger/Patches could be seen guarding the body of another bear. Whether this bear had already been deceased, or had been killed by 469 is unknown.

At the end of 2024, Digger/Patches was seen live on cams killing 402 and attempting to cannibalize her, however he was driven off by 32 who claimed the cache.
